“I woke up one morning, about six months after buying my house, and went through my Saturday morning routine of coffee, eggs and bacon before starting my “To Do” list for the day. Afterward, I went down to my basement to throw in a load of laundry, and walked into a puddle of water right at the bottom of the stairs. It seemed like the heavy rains we’d gotten the night before had dumped right inside my home.
I did a quick inspection to see if any pipes were leaking. After seeing everything was okay on that end, I figured it was leaking through the walls onto the floor. I went online to find a waterproofing company. Fast forward a week and I’m more frustrated than I could have imagined. First, half the contractors I contacted didn’t call me back. The ones that did couldn’t give me any ballpark pricing over the phone. They HAD to come out to my house, usually during the times I was working myself.
